By act of Congress, Aug. 26, 1842, the edition of the reports of the U. S. Exploring expedition was limited to 100 copies. Mr. Wilkes, however, secured copyright on his Narrative of the expedition, and under that privilege published an edition of 250 copies, of which the government received 100 copies. Under the copyright privilege, he also brought out other and cheaper editions. It was issued: Philadelphia, Lee and Blanchard, 1845. 5 v. and atlas: 1845, 1849, 1852, 1854. 5 v.--Philadelphia, 1850. 5 v.--New York, G. P.
